公益財団法人東芝国際交流財団とアスジャ・インターナショナルが共同で実施している国際交流プログラム「Toshiba Youth Club Asia」に、この春休み、二名の島前校生がチャレンジしました。その様子を、引率したALTジゼル先生のレポートでご紹介します。

 

Toshiba Youth Conference Asia (TYCA) holds a twice yearly conference for students from Japan and ASEAN. This session, two Dozen students, Ei Shimizu and Satsuki Watanabe, along with ALT, Gisele Berzenye, went to Tokyo to spend 8 days with students from Myanmar, Vietnam, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, and Japanese students from Keio FSCHigh School and Waseda High School. Here’s what they did!

(訳)「Toshiba Youth Conference Asia (以下、TYCA)」は、日本とASEANの学生にむけて、年に二度カンファレンスを開催しています。今回は、島前高校の清水映さん、渡邉紗月さん2名とALTのジゼル先生が8日間、東京で開かれたプログラムに参加しました。プログラムへは、ミャンマー、ベトナム、フィリピン、ラオス、カンボジアから来日した学生と、慶應義塾湘南藤沢高等部や早稲田高等学校の生徒も参加していました。それでは、彼らの挑戦をご紹介します！

 

Day 1: After a long morning of travel, we arrived in Tokyo. We met the rest of our group at the Tokyo Municipal Building to see the view of Tokyo. After that, we went to the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center, where we would be staying for the week. Here we started to get to know each other!

　朝早くからの長い旅路の末に、私たちは東京へ到着しました。東京都庁で他の参加者と合流し、展望台から東京全体を見渡しました。その後、これからの一週間滞在する国立オリンピック記念青少年総合センターへ移動。参加者同士がお互いを知るところからプログラムがいよいよスタートしました！

Day 2: Today was a long day of lectures! In the morning, we learned about the history of Japan and its struggles with the environment. Then we split into our teams: T, Y, C, and A. In the afternoon, we heard a lecture from Ms. Hideko Hadzialic, the Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

　たっぷり講義形式で学んだ一日でした！　午前中は、日本の歴史と環境への取り組みについて学習しました。午後は、「T」「Y」「C」「A」の4つのチームに分かれ、国連開発計画(UNDP)在日代表のハジアリッチ秀子さんの講義を受けました。

 

Day 3: We went to Musashino University to hear a lecture about QFT (question formulation technique) from Dr. Naoki Ishibashi. Then, in the afternoon, we, with the help of Ms. Kishi from Keio SFC, played a game called Logy and Nomy. It was really fun!

(訳)三日目：

　私たちは武蔵野大学へ赴き、QFTと呼ばれる問いづくりの手法について石橋 直樹教授から講義を受けました。午後には、慶応義塾大学　湘南藤沢キャンパスの岸さんと共に、「Logy and Nomy」と呼ばれるワークショップでゲームを行いました。とても楽しかったです！

Day 4: Dr. Taikan Oki gave a lecture to us about water. Afterwards, we visited the Wakuwaku Aqua Water Treatment Plant to see how water is treated. Then we went to the Toshiba Science Museum and went on a guided tour! It was very interesting!

　東京大学の沖 大幹教授より、「水」についての講義を受けました。その後、「ワクワクアクア」と呼ばれる入江崎水処理センターを訪問し、どのように水が扱われているのかを見学しました。そして、東芝未来科学館を訪れ、館内ツアーを実施していただきました。大変興味深い内容でした！

Day 5: In the morning, we went to Meiji Shrine. It was great to see the beautiful buildings and the forest that was planted 100 years ago! In the afternoon, each team started planning their final presentations. Not only that, but we were able to meet and talk with people from ASJA (Asia Japan Alumni) about student life in Japan.

　午前中、明治神宮を訪れました。美しい建築物や100年前に植樹された森を見学するのは、素晴らしい経験でした。午後には、それぞれのチームが最終プレゼンテーション作りをスタートしました。プログラムがスタートしてから五日が経ち、アジア各国から来た学生達と交流するなかで、彼らと日本の高校生の生活について話しをすることが出来るようになりました。

Day 6: Today was all about preparing for our final presentations! The students worked very hard on making sure everything was perfect! So, it was a very busy day!

　今日は丸一日を最終プレゼンテーションの準備に費やしました！生徒たちは、完璧なプレゼンを作成しようと、精一杯努力していました。とても忙しい一日でした！

Day 7: Presentation Day! All the groups gave presentations about potential future projects that could help fulfill the SDGs in Southeast Asian countries. They were broadcast on Zoom as well as in front of the second secretaries from Cambodia and Laos, the president of the National Institute for Youth Education, the Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and several more. All the students did an amazing job, and all of their ideas were so ambitious and innovative! In the evening, we had our farewell party to celebrate the students’ hard work and to say goodbye to our new friends!

(訳)七日目：

　最終プレゼンテーション本番です！　プレゼンテーションのテーマは、東南アジア諸国におけるSDGs達成に向けた新規プロジェクト。カンボジア王国大使館や駐日ラオス大使館の二等書記官、国立青少年教育振興機構理事長、外務省人物交流室室長等のゲストを前にし、Zoomでのオンライン配信もありながらの発表でした。生徒たちの発表は全て素晴らしかったですし、彼らのアイディアはどれも野心的で革新的なものでした！　最終夜にはパーティーがあり、生徒たちは努力を称えられるとともに、新しくできた友達とお別れの言葉を交わしました。

Day 8: Today was our final day! We said goodbye to our Southeast Asian friends and made our journeys home very early in the morning. We will never forget our friends and all the memories we made! It was an amazing trip!

八日目：

　今日はついに最終日です！　東南アジアから来た友人たちに別れを告げ、朝早くにそれぞれの家路につきました。このプログラムで出会った友達のことや、八日間の思い出を、一生忘れないでしょう！　本当に素敵な体験でした！
